This straight-to-DVD animated feature from Warner Bros. follows the animated style of the JLA, Superman and Batman animated series very closely. Very slick and smooth animation, colourful and impressive.

The cast is quite impressive, with Adam Baldwin (Serenity), James Marsters (Smallville) and Anne Heche (John Q) rounding out the main cast. Whilst there performances aren't exactly ground breaking, nor do they have a great amount of challenging material to work with, but they do the job admirably enough.

In the story itself Lois Lane is secretly dating Superman, but still doesn't know that he is Clark Kent, which is bound to upset some purists out there, but it is handled well. The plot does veer away from the comics, so isn't predictable if you've read the comic series.

In the midst of the many impressive battle sequences there are some nods to the first three Superman movies, including a nice reference to the battle between Superman and Zod in Superman 2. There is also a nice reference to the sequence in the first movie where Superman rescues a catcalled "Precious" from up a tree.

The grief at Superman's death is handled well, as are the mourning sequences afterwards. The overall ending is quite different to the comics and is quite imaginative.

Overall, this is one for the fans, and anyone not familiar with the comics or movies won't get as much from this. However, the action sequences are impressive and it would have been nice for "Superman Returns" to have had the kind of pulse pounding excitement on display here..

It is "absolutely not true" that Brandon Routh is out as Superman for the stand-alone series.

The only thing that has been determined is that JUSTICE LEAGUE will not feature the actors from the other films. That's it.

Right now, Routh is still Warner's choice to return if they make another stand-alone SUPERMAN film, and that's based on conversations as recently as a few weeks ago.

Justice League of America will not start shooting as originally planned.

There has been an incredible amounts of delays and there wasn't much of answer coming from our sources, until today.

There hadn't been much of a slowdown as preparations were still underway over at Australia's Fox Studios as artists, set designers and other crew were busy prepping the film before the Holiday break but why hasn't the cast been officially announced?

"Justice League is indeed in danger of not starting production on time and maybe even getting scrapped altogether" is what a studio source told the IESB last week. "The concerns are that the script is not ready to go in front of cameras, and also that the budget is getting a bit out of control, the WGA strike has proven to be Kryptonite to Superman and friends."

So while the cast is apparently locked, the studio has had to go back to the actors and extend their holds. IESB was told that at least two high level studio execs headed to Australia right before Christmas to try to resolve these issues and get the film get back on schedule.

"George Miller really wants this movie to be way big but the cast is 100% unknown."

"Another problem we are hearing is that some upper level execs including the new big boss Jeff Robinov is not too sure if the timing is right for JLA. Most of it has to do with the Nolan camp not being happy with the decision of moving forward with the JLA film considering the positive buzz surrounding The Dark Knight."

"The cast for Justice League is mediocre, the execs know it's mediocre, it's going to go down to wire on this one, this movie cold be huge but right now it's plagued with a couple of big issues and the WGA strike isn't making things easier."

"Justice League has been pushed back to at least April or May and possibly a start date as late as June or July. That is of course if the movie doesn't get scrapped altogether."

So there you go, our first update of JLA of the year. On a side note, I was really pumped for this film last year but now I am waiting eagerly for the day WB decides to go in a different direction and cancels this production.

The CW have confirmed that the next new episode of "Smallville" will air on Thursday, January 31st in the U.S. at 8pm.

Meanwhile, according to GinaHolden.net, actress Gina Holden started filming her role in "Smallville" this past week. KryptonSite.com speculates that Holden will be playing Patricia Swann, daughter of Virgil Swann (played by Christopher Reeve in past seasons).

While AaronDouglasFans.com lists the Battlestar Galactica actor Aaron Douglas as appearing in the up-coming 14th episode of season 7 titled "Traveler" as a character by the name of "Pierce".

The 'Superman Returns' actor marries his long-time girlfriend.

The Man of Steel is officially off the market! 'Superman Returns' star BRANDON ROUTH married longtime girlfriend, actress COURTNEY FORD, on Saturday at JON and MINDY PETERS' 3000-acre El Capitan Ranch, just outside of Santa Barbara, CA.

It was a very exclusive, intimate wedding. The 150 guests were made up of friends and family, as well as KATE BOSWORTH, Warner Bros. President and COO ALAN F. HORN and director BRYAN SINGER.

The groom was escorted down the aisle by his parents. He wore a cashmere three-piece suit, Sea Island cotton shirt, and satin tie by Looysen Fine Clothing. The bride glowed in a white JUNKO YOSHIOKA gown with Chantilly lace and intricate platinum beading, featuring a unique open back with a dramatic scallop-edged lace cowl. She was preceded down the aisle by three bridesmaids dressed in rose-red strapless gowns.

The couple wrote their own vows, which they recited, overlooking the ocean. Thousands of red roses decorated the outdoor ceremony, whose theme was country chic.

"The Insider"'s CHERYL WOODCOCK spoke to Mindy Peters, who revealed that she and Jon did about a $1 million ranch overhaul for Brandon's big day, including adding a man-made lake, rock walls and waterfalls, as well as fountains that will shoot water on cue when Routh gets the word, "You may now kiss the bride." There were also fireworks to mark the union.

California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER closed the airspace above the ranch to ensure the couple their privacy for the occasion.

A large white tent was erected for the reception, which continued the country chic theme with silk brown tablecloths, bamboo chairs, candles and red rose petals on each table. Even the six-tier vanilla cake had red roses on the top. The reception was catered by Frida of Beverly Hills. Routh showed his romantic side by serenading his bride. Another big hit of the night was a novely item -- the couple had a donut machine dispensing hot, delicious confections.

Routh and Ford became engaged in August, 2006, and have been dating for more than four years. They met while Routh was bartending at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley for a Ford family wedding reception, so, in honor of how they met, Routh and his groomsmen went bowling the night before the wedding.
